About Me
Welcome to my Learning Portfolio! My name is Miranda Hileman and I am a Fifth Year at the University of Cincinnati studying in the Chemical Engineering Program and the ACCEND Program working towards my MBA.
I was born in Columbus, Ohio but grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, a trait that brings on plenty of jokes now that my family and I are back in the Buckeye State. The Bluegrass State is the only home I have known, but it is a great one and nothing like the stereotypical jokes.
Throughout my life, I have been lucky enough to find my passions in things that I have been able to participate in every day. By far my biggest passion, besides engineering, is the performing arts. I took ballet for sixteen years, and coming to college makes me miss getting to dance every day. Luckily, I am able to take dance classes as a form of exercise as well as go to the ballet, opera, and theatre!
Another passion in my life is service. I really enjoy volunteering and giving back to others. Before coming to the University of Cincinnati, I served others through Girl Scouts and my church's youth group. At the University of Cincinnati, I have been a Bearcat Buddy (tutor) for three of my five of my academic semesters. I am also proud to have gone on the Honors Program's Work Fest Alternate Spring Break Trip. I also am an alumni member of a social sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, and I loved being involved with their philanthropy Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, while I was an active collegian member. Finally, I have also served my community and my love of government in UC's Student Government and was previously an intern at the Mayor's Office.
A final passion in my life is traveling. Through the Honors Program, I have been able to travel to Eastern Kentucky, Orlando in Florida, Scotland, and have even completed a semester of co-op in Dartford, just outside of London, in the UK. While on co-op there, I traveled to Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Marseille, Barcelona, and also completed several day trips around Great Britain.
Following graduation, I will be moving to Kennesaw, Georgia to work for The Clorox Company in their Supply Chain Leadership Development Program. While this 3 year program will move me around the country, upon its completion I am planning on settling in the Atlanta area with my boyfriend. I am extremely excited for this next chapter and all that lies ahead!
